Welcome to the Friends of Hove Park website

We are a group of local volunteers with a love for the area and our park. Throughout the year we are proactively looking for ways to improve the park for everyone, including the local wildlife!

Tree planting

In March 2022, in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we planted four young birch (Betula ermanii) trees. We worked with Brighton and Hove City Council and our park gardeners did a great job of planting them securely. We would like to thank MODA and Waitrose, who sponsored the project.

Bulb planting

Throughout the year we plant various different flowers. For example the purple crocuses that come up each March were planted as part of the the Purple 4 Polio campaign. We also plant and maintain the wildflower mound opposite the children’s playground and we’re creating a wildflower bank along the Goldstone Crescent side of the park during 2022.

Our volunteers

We are all volunteers and are always looking for more people to come and join us. We get involved in all sorts of projects in the park, including litter picking, weeding and planting, as well as running events.
